General Laundry Care

This laundry care guide is designed especially for Weekenders fashions. For the best care of your garments always refer to the care content label on each garment.

Wash in warm water.
Avoid bleaches or detergents containing chlorine bleach. Instead, choose color-safe or non-chlorine bleach products.
Hang to dry.
Dry on low heat.
If ironing is required, use low heat.

Stain Removal Guide

Follow the instructions in this guide and the directions on the laundry product packaging. Test any stain removal product in a hidden area of the garment before applying it to the stained area. Treat stains as quickly as possible. Use very cold water on stains first as using hot water usually sets stains.


Handling the tough stuff. The meaning of Pretreat and Presoak.

Pretreat
Use for a few small spots. Suggested pretreatment products include laundry stain remover, undiluted liquid laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, a paste of granular laundry detergent and water or bar soap. Launder immediately.

Presoak
Use for deep-set stains, extensive staining or protein stains like blood or grass. Soak stained item in cold water in heavy-duty laundry detergent for a maximum of 30 minutes. Then wash regularly and include a non-chlorine bleach product.

For light stains, pretreat allowing solution to penetrate for 5 minutes. Add heavy-duty liquid laundry detergent. Launder normally. If stain remains, repeat laundering using color-safe bleach.

For heavy stains, place garment face down on clean, white, absorbent paper towels and apply dry-cleaning solvent to the back of the stain replacing paper towels frequently. Allow garment to air dry, rinse and launder in warm water.


Types of Stains

Baby Food and Formula
Presoak fresh stains and rinse with cold water. For set stains, soak for 30 minutes using color-safe bleach.

Bloodstains
Flush fresh stain with cold water immediately. Presoak for 15 minutes in a mixture of cool water (1quart), dishwashing detergent (1/2 tsp) and ammonia (1 tbsp). Gently blot to loosen stain. Soak another 15 minutes in mixture. Rinse. Soak aged stains for several hours. Launder as normal. If stain has dried, use a laundry stain remover and launder using color-safe bleach.

Butter, Salad Dressing, Cooking Oil & Grease
Pretreat allowing solution to penetrate for 5 minutes. Add heavy-duty liquid laundry detergent. Launder normally.

Chewing Gum
Chill fabric with ice to harden gum. Peel or scrape off excess gum with edge of a teaspoon. Pretreat with liquid heavy-duty laundry detergent and rinse with warm water. Repeat if necessary.

Chocolate
Treat the stain with a pretreatment product. Launder as normal.

Coffee or Tea
Sponge or soak stain promptly in cool water. Saturate the stain with laundry stain remover. Using heavy-duty liquid detergent, launder in warm water.

Dairy Products
Presoak for 30 minutes. If stain remains presoak overnight. Wash in warm water.

Grass
Presoak for 30 minutes. Continue to presoak overnight if the stain remains. Wash in warm water.

Lipstick
Place the stain face down on clean, white, absorbent paper towels. Sponge the stained area with dry-cleaning solvent replacing paper towels frequently. Allow garment to air dry. Rinse. Apply heavy-duty liquid detergent to stain and launder.

Makeup
(mascara, eyeshadow, blush) Dampen stain with cool water and pour heavy-duty liquid laundry detergent directly on stain until the outline is gone. Wash in warm water.

Permanent Ink
Sponge the stain with dry cleaning solvent or rubbing alcohol. Place stained fabric face down on clean white absorbent paper towels and apply more alcohol to the back of the stain. Replace paper towels frequently. Penetrate the area with a heavy-duty liquid laundry detergent and rinse. Soak the stain in warm water (1 quart) and ammonia solution (1 to 4 tbsp). Rinse and repeat if necessary. Wash in warm water.

Perspiration, Deodorants, Anti-Perspirants
If stain is light and/or fresh, apply ammonia. Wait a few moments. Rinse. For heavy or older stains place face down on clean paper towels and sponge back of stain with dry-cleaning solvent. Rinse thoroughly. Wash in warm water.

Soft Drinks, Fruit Drinks, or Drink Mixes
Sponge or soak stain promptly in cool water. Saturate the stain with laundry stain remover. Using heavy-duty liquid detergent, launder in warm water.

Tomato-Based Stains
Saturate the area with laundry stain remover. Allow remover to penetrate the stain for several minutes. If stain remains, soak the garment in color-safe bleach. For heavy stains, apply dry-cleaning solvent to the back of the stain over clean white absorbent paper towels replacing paper towels frequently. Allow garment to air dry, rinse, and launder in warm water.

Water Soluble Ink
Rinse stain under running cold water to remove as much ink as possible. Pretreat with heavy-duty liquid laundry detergent directly on stain and rinse thoroughly. Wash in warm water.

Wine
Sponge or soak stain promptly in cool water. Pretreat and add color-safe bleach to warm water wash. For older stains, presoak garment for 30 minutes.
